Books Hattie has edited or contributed work to have been published at Bloomsbury, Simon & Schuster, and Grove Atlantic, among others. She has worked with New York Times bestselling authors, Pulitzer Prize recipients, National Book Award nominees, Michelin-starred chefs, and James Beard Award winners. Writing she has commissioned or edited has appeared in Harper’s, the New York Times, the New Republic, Bon Appetit, and the Washington Post. Before becoming a book editor, she worked at New England Review and McCormick Literary Agency. She graduated magna cum laude from Middlebury College, where she studied English and American Literature and Political Science. She lives in Manhattan.
Hattie takes freelance clients looking for help drafting book proposals, developing and polishing manuscripts at any stage, and copyediting. She also takes on fact-checking projects in a limited capacity. She specializes in working with journalists and academics looking to write for a trade audience. Although she’s happy to copyedit genre fiction, business books, self-help, and YA/Children’s projects, she is not the right developmental editor for them.
